“I had the privilege of being a student of Mr. Espinosa years ago, and to this day, I can confidently say he was one of the most impactful educators I've ever had.

As someone whose first language is English, I initially approached learning Spanish with hesitation and a lack of confidence. Mr. Espinosa completely changed that. He created an environment that was not only supportive, but genuinely exciting, where making mistakes was part of the process and growth felt natural. His teaching style made learning fun, engaging, and something I actually looked forward to every day.

What truly set him apart was how he brought the language to life. Through music, food, dancing, and films, he immersed us in the richness of Spanish-speaking cultures in a way that felt authentic and unforgettable. His own personal background and life experiences added depth to every lesson, making it about so much more than vocabulary and grammar, it was about connection, perspective, and appreciation.

Mr. Espinosa was also incredibly dedicated to his students on an individual level. When I struggled with pronunciation and conjugations, he took the time to work with me one-on-one, breaking things down in a way that finally clicked. He always offered extra support, whether it was preparing for exams, presentations, or just building confidence. He never made you feel behind, only motivated to keep improving.

His passion was contagious. He had a way of making all of us want to learn more, to go deeper, and to challenge ourselves. He was relatable, approachable, and became more than just a teacher, he was a mentor, a trusted resource, and someone who genuinely cared about our success both inside and outside the classroom.

Because of him, I continued on to take AP Spanish courses and even studied Spanish in college. That confidence and curiosity started in his classroom.

If you ever have the opportunity to learn from Mr. Espinosa, take it. He's the kind of educator who leaves a lasting impression and truly changes the trajectory of his students' lives”.

“I had the privilege of being a student in Mr. Espinosa's class during his first year teaching at New Paltz High School, and even then, he stood out as an exceptional educator. Spanish quickly became one of the classes I looked forward to most each day.

Mr. Espinosa, or "E" as we called him, had a unique ability to make learning both fun and genuinely engaging, while still pushing us to build real fluency and confidence in the language. His energy, clarity, and connection with students made a lasting impact.

If he was this effective over a decade ago at the very start of his teaching career, I can only imagine how much more impactful his tutoring is now with years of experience and refined teaching skills”.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.
Dr. Espinosa was my Spanish teacher in high school, and to this day, I can confidently say he shaped not just how I learned a language--but how I showed up as a learner. He had this rare balance of being calm, genuinely kind, and effortlessly funny. His classroom never felt intimidating; it felt alive.
What set him apart was how hands-on he was. He didn't just teach from a textbook--he brought the language into real experiences. We were constantly engaged, moving, competing, laughing, and actually using what we learned. It built confidence in a way that stuck long after the class ended.
One of my favorite memories was "Dancing with the Teachers" in 2010--he fully leaned into it, performing a flamenco dance alongside another teacher and student pairs. It wasn't just entertaining--it showed us that learning and joy can coexist, that you can take something seriously without taking yourself too seriously.
Dr. Espinosa is truly a gift to education. The confidence, curiosity, and love of learning he instilled in his students doesn't fade--it carries forward into adulthood. I'm still benefiting from what he gave us years later.
An absolute blessing to any academic space he's part of.
